Job Description (GIS|AutoCAD Processor)

TerraSond is looking to add a highly diligent and meticulous GIS/AutoCAD Processor to the team. The GIS/AutoCAD Processor is primarily responsible for establishing, monitoring, and maintaining a high standard of project deliverables in accordance with the company quality systems, and ensuring the charting/drafting delivery meets technical standards and timelines established for the project. The GIS/AutoCAD Processor will interact with the Charting Manager for projects they are assigned to. They will also help create and/or modify workflows for their specialty. The GIS/AutoCAD Processor will work with data processing staff to ensure they are receiving data input formats needed to create maps, charts and databases to project specification. The position will continually monitor and suggest improvements to the company’s survey deliverable packages.


This role entails periods of offshore work and will require time spent on a vessel and may take place in inclement weather and extreme temperatures. Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, long days, and evening/weekend hours to meet deadlines. Offshore travel is required.

Duties

  • Preparation of mapping data and coordination of reporting for final deliverables
  • Assist where required on field data preparations for offshore use
  • Complete deliverables within specification and schedule
  • Provide timely and honest assessments of task progress and seek or provide guidance in a team collaborative manner to help solve inherent charting issues
  • Track project progress using detailed notes
  • Review Project drawings, detail design drawing and field reports
  • Review specifications and historic drawings supplied under assigned project
  • Assist with archiving project data and maintenance of archive logs
  • Provide internal products to acquisition
  • Ensure all final deliverables are completed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ensure all assigned onshore work is carried out in accordance with Company Standards and Project Specific Procedures

Required

  • AS/BS in AutoCAD Mapping, Geomatics, Geophysics or other related discipline plus 4 years of progressively responsible mapping experience including auto charting experience, or equivalent combination of education and training
  • Working knowledge of mapping aspects of hydrographic surveys, including cartography, horizontal coordinate systems (both geographic and ground), vertical datums
  • Working knowledge of AEC Standards project instructions/statement of work applications, including IHO, NOAA, USACE and BOEM technical specifications and procedural requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of layering schemes and data analytical tools
  • Ability to develop process improvements and procedures, and stay up to date on latest technologies
  • Working knowledge of personal computers including word processing, database and computational spreadsheet applications (Excel)
  • Candidate must be legally eligible and insurable to drive to regular assignments
  • Direct experience in production of AutoCAD or cartographic products including volumetrics
  • Background in mathematics to include arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment
