|CEMML is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. |A Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands, to be assigned at Fort Polk, LA, in support for the US Army Sustainable Range Program (SRP)/Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) program.
|Required Job Qualifications
|BS Degree from an accredited college or university in Geography, Natural Resources or closely related field with GIS course work. At least three years of work experience in a relevant field is required. Demonstrated proficiency in maintaining and developing GIS datasets and metadata; includes editing, updating, and transforming data into specific formats and schemas to include file geodatabases, personal geodatabases and shapefiles. Demonstrated skills in performing editing, analysis, metadata, data management, map creation, and other geoprocessing functions using ESRI ArcGIS 10.x and ArcPRO 2.x software. Proficiency capturing data from various sources and incorporating into GIS geodatabases through use of digitization, coordinate geometry, aerial photos, LiDAR data, GPS, and scanned documents. Experience collecting field Global Positioning System (GPS) data and post-processing data for use in ArcGIS utilizing Trimble software and hardware. Experience providing technical support and training in use of ESRI software. Experience with operating personal computer workstations and standard software packages, including extensive experience with Excel. Experience developing, organizing, collecting and analyzing GPS data by navigating wooded and rugged environments either in a vehicle or on foot across uneven terrain. Data collection may involve daylong outdoor work. Ability to write clearly and effectively.Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date. The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Ability to work in a courteous manner and communicate effectively orally with the public, outside agencies, and internal staff. Experience working on public lands with multiple land management and regulatory agencies.

|Serve as GIS analyst for the Fort Polk ITAM program. Work under the direction of the CSU/GIS Lead to support the GIS requirements of ITAM and SRP projects. Create and update GIS data layers, perform field data collection (GPS), and conduct various data analysis functions. Create and update maps, and provide GIS information or products for reports, presentations or the fulfillment of other military training requirements. Develop, update, manage, report, and maintain the DAMO-TRS (SRP) proponent SDSFIE Army Adaptation geospatial data layers in accordance with the DAMO-TRS SRP geospatial Data Development Strategy, the SRP geospatial data Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs), and the SDSFIE Army Adaptation. Facilitate and coordinate basic GIS training for Range personnel. Provide SRP GIS support for unit training. Develop, maintain, and update Military Installation Maps (MIMs) with the required geospatial data layers in accordance with MIM Production Guidance Documentation (MPGD) to support mission requirements.
